Insect Specimen Pointing Block (DIGITAL DOWNLOAD)

Pointing insect specimens is tricky, especially with specimens at the larger end of what cannot be directly pinned. Our pointing block makes it easy to point specimens of any size. The holes hold pins with points upside down while the grooves keep the glue off the block but aligned with the upside down specimens.

For many insects, this upside-down position is easier to coax the specimen into. Simply scoot the specimen sideways to contact the glue and leave it to dry. No more balancing that important specimen as it slides around at the end of the point to end up encased in a blob of glue.
